About the position

At the NMBU School of Economics and Business there is a vacancy for a permanent position as associate professor within Management and Organization.

You will be part of a team within the field of Management and Organization that contributes across our study programs in Economics and Business as well as to Entrepreneurship and Innovation. The team has a direct responsibility for our master program in Business. You will also be a part of a community that has a strong scientific publication record and that is actively involved in research projects in collaboration with a broad range of partners in Norway and internationally.

The School of Economics and Business is at the forefront in Norway in our teaching and research focus toward global challenges and sustainability. We are looking for a colleague who shares our interest to research the relationship between business, companies and society.

You will have the opportunity to supervise PhD students or post-doc candidates, and will be invited into multi-disciplinary research projects at a University which offers study programs that include natural sciences, data science, environmental management, landscape planning, nutrition, agriculture and veterinary science.

Main tasks

The main tasks in this position is research, teaching and supervision within business organization and management:

  • Research, dissemination of results and outreach within the related field(s);
  • Participation in the collegial environment and joint activities at the School;
  • Teaching courses in our study programs (normally two courses of 10 ECTs);
  • Contribute to the development of new courses according to recent developments within the field; and
  • Supervision of students at all levels (bachelor, master and PhD).

Competence

Required academic qualifications for the position:

  • Scientific research experience within one or more of the following fields: Organization theory, strategy, interorganizational relationships, organization psychology, or leadership;
  • Strong competence within research methods, preferably quantitative methods;
  • Publication record of scientific articles published in well recognized, international journals, and an active portfolio of research projects; and
  • Proficiency (fluency) in one of the Scandinavian languages as well as English.

The following qualifications will be preferred:

  • Candidates with an interest in topics related to sustainability in business and public sector organizations;
  • Candidates with an interest in the significance of digitalization within the above-mentioned fields;
  • Lecturer who uses student-active teaching methods; and
  • Candidates with an established network of actors in business and/or public organizations.

Personal suitability will be given weight.

Specific qualifications required:

  • Doctoral degree in the subject area concerned
  • Documented educational competence of a teaching portfolio that describes:
    • Pedagogical qualifications of at least 200 hours and pedagogical experience;
    • Teaching-, pedagogical- and tutoring experience; and
    • Basic teaching skills in planning, implementation, evaluation and development of teaching and supervision.

Those who do not meet the educational requirements for employment shall be required to meet them within two years of employment.

Remuneration and further information

The position of associate professor is placed on the government pay scale position code 1011 Associate Professor, wage framework 24, with a salary grade between 70 and 77 (NOK 640.200 – 744.600), depending on qualifications. A higher salary grade may be considered based on qualifications.
